Michelle Baraba

Michelle is a licensed and certified Psychotherapist and Art Psychotherapist, bilingual in English and Croatian. Her training is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, holding a Master’s degree in Art Therapy and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She actively upholds her professional credentials with the Australian, New Zealand, and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA) and the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS).

Michelle implements a holistic approach to therapy, embracing the five components of well-being (social, emotional, spiritual, financial, and academic). She offers a strengths based, solution-focused, and client-centered therapeutic approach. She is experienced in providing individual and group therapy to support clients in a variety of areas, including:

  • Emotional regulation
  • Mood disorders (e.g. anxiety and depression)
  • Identity and self-esteem
  • Gender and sexuality
  • Trauma
  • Body dysmorphia
  • Self-harm and suicidality
  • Disrupted attachment patterns
  • Relationships
  • Dementia and aspects of ageing

Her experience includes working with marginalized populations. She is passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment for all clients, and has conducted a “Sensitivity Training for Counsellors and Helpliners” to educate other mental health professionals on the importance of mindfully working with gender-diverse clients.

She is open-hearted and welcoming to persons of any gender, age, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion or background. Having lived in Singapore for over 18 years and attending German European School Singapore (GESS), she can relate to third-culture individuals and expatriates navigating new environments and cultural experiences. She provides a safe and non-judgemental space for clients to enhance their emotional awareness and sense of self. She believes in the healing power of creativity and self-expression in therapy, and utilizes the creative arts to explore avenues for meaning-making, transformation, personal development, and healing.

In her personal life, she enjoys spending time in nature, engaging her mind and body through yoga, and pursuing her own creative interests. Michelle's passion for helping others and her commitment to ongoing education and professional development make her an excellent choice for those seeking compassionate and effective therapy.
